Meydenbauer Bay Remodel

Bellevue WA
1999

An interesting modern spec house built on a steep slope desperately needed an upgrade to the interior. Limited site placement opportunities resulted in a floor plan that turned its back on a sweeping view of the Seattle skyline and poorly selected original finishes gave a very lackluster interior appearance to a house on a stunning site. Walls were removed in the main floor public area to open the living and dining area up to the kitchen to take advantage of the lovely view. A simple painted and wood post and beam system was designed to separate the spaces but not cause any visual obstruction. They also served as light sources. The kitchen was totally remodeled with wood cabinets and stone counters and the view end of the kitchen wall was opened to be totally transparent from ceiling to counter allowing the adjacent living and dining areas visual access the skyline.
