Colby Avenue Kitchen Renovation

Everett WA
2007

Sited on the historic boulevard in downtown Everett this early 20th century home maintains most of its original charm. Unfortunately over the decades the kitchen, nook and rear entry had been independently remodeled with no coordination or thought to continuity of style. The current owners desired to have much more open and entertainment appropriate space for their busy modern life and family. After considering several options that explored different degrees of intervention of the existing space one was selected that removed all the walls opening the kitchen into one large work area. The wall between the kitchen and the adjacent breakfast room was also removed and a generous built in seating area with table and a display-serving buffet were added. Furniture style cherry cabinetry in a u-shaped configuration surround a large table like island with seating and storage for the large cooking pots, garbage and recycling center.
